Correct Use of Gas Regulators

The gas regulator is a regulating device that converts high-pressure gas into low-pressure gas and keeps output gas stable. So, how to use it?

Requirements for gas cylinders and their connections


The cylinder should be held upright. Remove possible oil stains and dangerous goods around the bottle valve.


Install the regulator correctly on the cylinder. The intake nut must be tightened tightly without air leakage. It is strictly forbidden to contact with oily substances during operation.


Before opening the gas cylinder, the regulator handle must be unscrewed until the spring is unloaded.


Note: When opening the bottle valve, if the pressure regulating handle is not completely loosened (until the spring is not stressed), the instantaneous pressure may damage the diaphragm and the low pressure gauge. This can cause the pressure reducer to fail and, in severe cases, cause personal injury.


The opening sequence of gas cylinders, regulators, and gas-using equipment


First unscrew the pressure regulating handle of the regulator counterclockwise (until the spring is not stressed), slowly open the gas cylinder valve, then adjust the pressure regulating handle to the required flow or pressure, and finally turn on the gas equipment.


How to adjust the gas regulator?


Turn the pressure regulating handle counterclockwise first, so that the pressure regulating spring is in a free state. At this point the regulator is off. When in use, the handle should be slowly rotated clockwise to adjust the pressure to the pressure used by the user.


If the pressure is higher than the operating pressure, the handle should be loosened counterclockwise, and then readjust after releasing a certain amount of gas.
